With the western world's eyes permanently fixed on China's runaway economy, what better way to follow its twists and turns than having your own "China economist"?

Morgan Stanley has hired Qing Wang as executive director and chief economist for Greater China. He joins Morgan Stanley from Bank of America where he had a similar role. Prior to that, Mr. Wang spent six years as an economist with the International Monetary Fund in Washington.

This latest hire follows hard on the heels of the appointment of Stanley Carlos Oyarbide as Morgan Stanley's managing director and chief operating officer for China. He joins from Credit Suisse, where he was AsiaPac head of its financial institutions group. He has advised on many landmark Chinese transactions including the restructuring and IPOs of China Unicom, Sinopec, China Life, SMIC, CCB and ICBC.
