concerning next year's Beijing Olympics are piling up fast in our
in-tray. But for those who feel that race is largely run, 2010 brings
the Guangzhou Asian Games and a whole new range of commercial
opportunities for western companies.
Atos Origin, the European IT services firm, has taken an early led and is trumpeting that it has been selected to develop the “technology master plan” for the 16th Asian Games.
Taking place in Guangzhou, the games will welcome over 14,000 athletes from 44 countries and attract an estimated 1m spectators.
Atos Origin has been down this track before. Its methodology
for building IT master plans was used in the 2002 Commonwealth Games in
Manchester, the 2005 Izmir University Games and it has been contracted
to supply IT for various Olympic Games including next year's in Beijing.
